20th Annual WMHS Golf Classic Results
The Western Maryland Health System Foundation announces the winners of the 20th Annual WMHS Golf Classic, the area's premier charity golf event. The 57 team, two-course tournament was held Friday, September 16, at the Omni Bedford Springs Old Course and the Cumberland Country Club. The gross division (right) winners, shooting a 57, were the PharmaCare #1 team of Brian Appel, Slug Armstrong, Marc Zanger and George Young at the Bedford Springs course and the Surfacide team of Anthony Morocco, Chad Porter, Eric Porter and Jeff Porter, shooting a 55 at the Cumberland Country Club.
2nd place gross winner at Bedford Springs, shooting a 58, was the Document Solutions team of Wally Ingram, Eric Koelker, Jeff Stepp and Terry Snider. 2nd place gross winner at the Cumberland Country Club was the Wells Fargo team of Josh Deputy, Steve Stoup, Dave Wertz and John Whitmore, shooting a 57.
A card-off was needed after two teams shot a 60 at the Bedford Springs. The 3rd place gross went to the Moran Coal Company team with Eric Johnson, Dave Marple, Bob Marendt and Don Moran. The 3rd place gross at Bedford Springs went to the Harbel, Inc. team, shooting a 55, with Dave Madden, Jay Stanislawczyk, Mike Thompson and Joe Gaudio.
The Cumberland Country Club's net champion, shooting a 53, was the Lions Center team of John Emerick, Mark Farris, Jack Hendershot and Ed Lease. 2nd place net winner was the BRG Healthcare team, shooting a 55, with team members Joe Carter, Drew Ingram, Josh Repac and Rich Repac. 3rd place net went to the Harbel, Inc. team, shooting a 55, with Joe Gaudio, Adam Sterne, Jay Stanislawczyk and Mike Thompson.
The Bedford Springs net champion, shooting a 48 was the Allegany Health Nursing & Rehab team of P.J. Shook, Curt Tringler, Mike Miller and Steve Shipley. 2nd place net winner was the Bennett, Brewer & Associates team #2 of Slater Hafer, Aaron Bennett, Chris Hovatter, and Steve Sharpless. 3rd place net went to the Radon Medical Imaging team of Steve Mohr, Brian Doak, Selwyn Persad and Dan Sytsma.
Closest to the pin winners at Bedford Springs included Gerry Goldstein on #2, T.J. Kabar on #4, Mike Miller on #10, Eric Johnson #14, and Joe Pecoraro on #17. Longest drive winner on #16 was Brian Doak. Straightest drive winner on #13 was Brian Hough.
Closest to the pin winners at the Cumberland Country Club included Drew Ingram on #1, Mike Tipton #6, Steve Stoup on #10, Jim Simmermon on #12, Tom Ostendorff on #15 and Steve Stoup on #18. Longest drive winner on #8 was Lucas McGill. Straightest drive winner on #14 was Jared Burkett.
