WMHS Named to List of Top 100 Integrated Health SystemsFor the fourth straight year, the Western Maryland Health System has been named one of the Top 100 integrated health networks by Verispan. A national research firm, Verispan reviews data about the nation’s 570 integrated health networks and compiles the Top 100 list annually based on each network’s performance and degree of integration. “We are very pleased to make this prestigious list once again this year,” commented Barry P. Ronan, WMHS President and CEO. “We take great pride in knowing that we have achieved a level of integration that few other health systems have been able to do. Our new hospital on Willowbrook Road will further enhance our ability to provide quality, cost-effective care and expand the range of services available in our region.” Verispan has ranked the country’s non-specialty local and regional healthcare systems for the past ten years. Its analysis evaluates the network’s ability to operate as a unified system in terms of integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, and hospital utilization. St. John’s Health System in Springfield, Missouri, topped the list for the first time. WMHS was the only health system in Maryland to make the list. Other prominent health systems in the Mid-Atlantic region on the list include the Inova Health System in Virginia, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System, Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pennsylvania, and the Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This year’s rankings were published in the February 5 edition of Modern Healthcare, a respected trade journal in the healthcare industry. Click here for the 2006 story. | ||||||||||
