First Baby of the New Year – 2008

The first baby of the New Year was born at 1:46 a.m. on January 1, 2008, at the Western Maryland Health System Memorial Campus. The boy, Shane Mikel Hicks was born to parents Teresa and Mikel Hicks of Keyser, West Virginia. He weighed in at 8 pounds - 1 ounce, and was 21 inches long. Obstetrician Dr. Jean Bialas delivered the baby with assistance from Dr. Gwyn Harrison. Shane’s mom is a teacher at Keyser Middle School and dad is the co-manager of 84 Lumber in Keyser. The baby and mom are doing very well. Congratulations to the Hicks Family!
