Two Adult Medical Day Care Staff Complete National Restaurant Association Course
The Western Maryland Health System is pleased to announce that two staff member’s of the Adult Medical Day Care recently attended a two-day course sponsored by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. The two, Connie Davis (left), CNA, and Gilda “Sissy” Powers (right), dietary worker, passed the certification exam with flying colors, making them the first two Day Care workers in Allegany County to achieve this accomplishment. The exam tests knowledge in such topics as food, high-risk populations, training employees, and legal regulatory issues. Though not currently required by the Allegany County Health Department, the exam is required in five other counties in Maryland and the city of Baltimore – to operate a kitchen in Adult Medical Day Care settings. The certification is good for three years and WMHS will be ready when it is required in the future.
