Proceeds from Cancer Float Bash Donated to WMHS Regional Cancer Center
Joe and Tammy Corwell from Uncle Joe’s Woodpile in Short Gap, WV, present a check for $6,000 to Julie Hardy (right), Operations Manager of the Western Maryland Health System’s Regional Cancer Center. The money was raised at the first annual “Redneck Float Cancer Bash,” which was held in June on the South Branch of the Potomac River in Springfield. The idea for the event came from Tammy, who is a recent breast cancer survivor. Participants enjoyed food and entertainment after a ride down the river on handmade floats. Four bands donated their services and Northern Eagle Distributing from Romney was instrumental in helping to put on the event. The second annual event is already being planned for late June of next year.
