Western Maryland Medical Supply Relocates

Western Maryland Home Medical Equipment now has a new name, a new location, and a new partner. Now known as Western Maryland Medical Supply, it has relocated from the Braddock Square Shopping Center to 13513 Winchester Road, next to the Eaton Young Furniture Store. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently to announce its new location and to introduce its new partner.

Western Maryland Medial Supply, LLC, is a new venture between the Western Maryland Health System and Equipped for Life, the one-stop shop for home medical equipment and supplies in the tri-state area. This partnership allows Equipped for Life to bring an established business model to the Cumberland market and offer the community expanded services. Western Maryland Medical Supply will now be able to offer retail home medical equipment to consumers, as well as oxygen systems in addition to government contracted medical equipment.

Although the venture is equally owned by Antietam Health Services (Equipped for Life's parent company) and a Western Maryland Health System subsidiary, Antietam Health Services will be the managing partner.

Michael Zampelli, chief operating officer of Antietam Health Services, said that since other regional locations have proven successful, the partnership with the Western Maryland Health System was a natural step. "The Western Maryland Health System liked our business model, not only the home medical equipment, but also the retail," he said.

Mark Ellis, director of Equipped for Life, said this merger will benefit the patient first. "Continuity of care is number one," he said. "Equipped for Life can help get better service to the Cumberland market and offer a larger variety of products. It's good for the public at large."

Together with Western Maryland Medical Supply, Equipped for Life now has more than 15,000 active patients and 7 locations, including all Home Care Pharmacy locations, to serve the public. Because of the merger, patients in the Cumberland area will now be able to purchase products that are available at all other Equipped for Life stores. Products available include scooters, walkers, walking aids, wheelchairs, respiratory equipment, and many other medical supplies.

History/Commitment

As an energetic home care company, we have taken on the challenges of meeting the home medical equipment and service needs of those requiring care in the home. We service the client base in and around the LaVale, MD area including an area within a 70-mile radius of LaVale. To realize these health care challenges, we at Western Maryland Home Medical Equipment, Inc. are committed to focusing all of our attention on the patient. Through our highly qualified and experienced staff, we are confident we can meet and exceed the needs of those who require home health care. Western Maryland Home Medical Equipment, Inc. was formed in 1986.

Experienced Staff

At Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, our strongest asset is our staff. Each caring member is dedicated to performing his or her best. To keep our already well-qualified and experienced staff abreast of new technologies and developments in the health care industry, we offer continuing education. Through specially designed courses and seminars, we broaden our knowledge base and pass this valuable information on to other home care professionals and patients via our everyday contacts. Whether a Customer Service Representative, a Billing Specialist, a Service Technician, a Respiratory Therapist, or a Sales Representative, each and every one of us, working together as a team, strives to meet and exceed the needs of our number one concern - our valued patient.

Delivery, Set Up and Instructions

We understand the need for prompt and friendly service. That's why each delivery is executed in a timely manner and in coordination with the patient's schedule. Upon delivery, instruction is given to the patient, as well as the caregiver, to ensure comfort, understanding, and compliance in the safe use of their home medical equipment. If for any reason, questions or concerns arise after the delivery, friendly and caring Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, representatives are only a phone call away.

24-Hour On-Call Emergency Service

Upon delivery, we provide our patients with a 24-hour on-call emergency service number. This allows them to "breath a little easier" should they have any equipment concerns. The security of knowing we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, brings greater comfort and freedom to our patient's everyday lives!

Insurance Billing/Acceptance

Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance are accepted on most items. All billing is processed by our well-trained Billing Specialists. We are more than happy to answer any questions our patients may have about their insurance coverage or billing statements. In addition, should we not accept assignment on an item, we will gladly process a claim to the patient's insurance company on their behalf. This eliminates the burden of the patient preparing a claim and assures them of timely and correct claims processing by a qualified Billing Specialist.

Convenient Ordering

Convenient ordering is available with prescription, via phone, fax, mail or just by walking in. Our Customer Service Representatives are ready to assist you during our regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

To allow for optimal equipment performance, all of our rental equipment is maintained on a regularly scheduled maintenance program. Should a piece of rental equipment need servicing, we will gladly exchange it promptly and efficiently. We are always happy to arrange for repair or servicing of purchased products and often have loaners available.

In-Services

Because the health care industry is constantly changing, we routinely offer in-services as a courtesy to our accounts. Whether it is a basic piece of equipment (i.e., wheelchair, patient lift, etc.) or something more complex (i.e., trach care, ventilators, etc.), we are available to in-service new staff, give updates or introduce products that are new to the marketplace. We encourage continuing education and staff development both internally, within our organization, and externally, at our referral sources, in order to provide high quality patient care.

Special Orders

We recognize that there are always items of special need. For this reason, we offer our special order service. We will "bend over backwards" to find that special item either in our enormous warehouse inventory, or through the wide range of vendors and manufacturers. Your confidence in knowing we are here to serve you is important to us.

Western Maryland Medical Supply has been serving the greater Cumberland, MD area as a highly respected provider of home medical products and services for many years. The company is a privately held organization with more than sixty-five years of healthcare industry experience between management and staff.

It is the intent of company management and staff to constantly strive to provide the highest quality home healthcare equipment, supplies, and services to all its patients. Patient rights, responsibilities, dignity, and confidentiality are always of the highest priority in the delivery and follow-up process. The company staff is continually updated in the latest in home healthcare technology through attendance at national seminars, participation in factory training programs, in-house education, and other appropriate methods.

Our management and staff constantly monitor the quality of services. Patients always retain the right to clearly voice their dissatisfaction, concern, or content with services rendered without fear of reprisal.

Western Maryland Health System Medical Supply Equipment does not discriminate any person because of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or age, and complies with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Customer Information

An answering service system will answer the company's phones after normal business hours. Western Maryland Medical Supply Equipment provides 24 hour/7 days per week ON-CALL service. If your call is an emergency and cannot wait until normal business hours, the answering service will contact the appropriate party to service your needs. Only equipment requiring emergency maintenance or replacement (i.e., oxygen) will be serviced after hours. Should a life threatening situation arise, it is suggested that the customer or caregiver dial "911" for professional emergency services.

Medicare Supplier Standards

  • In response to orders, which Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, receives, orders are filled from our inventory or inventory of companies with whom we have contracted to fill such orders or fabricate or fit items for sales from supplies it buys under contract.

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, is responsible for delivery of Medicare-covered items to Medicare beneficiaries.

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, honors all warranties, expressed or implied, under applicable law.

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, answers any questions or complaints a beneficiary has about an item or use of an item that is sold or rented to the beneficiary and refers beneficiaries with Medicare questions to the appropriate carrier.

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, maintains and repairs directly, or through a service contract with another company, items that it rents to Medicare beneficiaries.

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, accepts returns of substandard (less than full quality for a particular item) or unsuitable items (inappropriate for the beneficiary at the time it was fitted and/or sold) from Medicare beneficiaries.

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, discloses consumer information, which consists of a copy of the supplier standards to which it must conform to each Medicare beneficiary with whom it does business.

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC., complies with the disclosure provisions in Title XI of the Social Security Act, section 1124A(a).

  • Western Maryland Medical Supply, LLC, maintains a physical facility at its headquarters located at 13513 Winchester Road, LaVale, MD 21502.
