Tim Blank, December 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Tim Blank, a cardio invasive specialist with the Heart Institute’s Interventional Department, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of December.
An employee since 1991, Tim is an exceptional employee who works very closely with cardiologists to assist with cardiac catheterization procedures. He is a team player and is willing to help others learn new techniques, especially when it improves patient outcomes. Tim is a valuable resource to the Interventional team and he is a tireless advocate for his patients.
His co-workers describe Tim as respectful, caring, gentle and compassionate. He is very good with patients and their families who are sometimes apprehensive about their procedure. Tim puts them at ease with his caring nature and thoughtful manner. He is a valuable asset to WMHS and the Heart Institute.
Stacy Mackereth, November 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Stacy Mackereth, a specimen processing specialist in the Laboratory, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of November.
An employee with 26 years of experience, Stacy is an outstanding member of Lab staff and a valuable asset to the health system. Stacy is a team player who promotes a positive work environment and consistently lends a helping hand to her co-workers and patients.
Co-workers describe her as cheerful, supportive, generous, caring and conscientious. Stacy is a good communicator and often goes above and beyond the call of duty to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. She shows genuine compassion and concern for everyone she interacts with and is a perfect example of Service Excellence and exemplifies the WMHS Core Values.
Barb Barnard, October 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Barb Barnard, office coordinator in Clinics and Practices, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of October. She runs the busy office for cardiothoracic surgeons Dr. Mark Nelson and Dr. Subrato Deb.
An employee since 2007, Barb is a very hard worker with a fabulous attitude and a skill for organizing the practice and office staff for maximum efficiency. Her efforts have resulted in decreased wait times and increased satisfaction for patients. Barb also received additional training in medical coding and billing, which has made a huge difference in the revenue stream for the office.
She has a great sense of humor and puts patients at ease with her nurturing and caring manner. Barb arrives early, stays late and is willing to do whatever is needed for patients to have a successful recovery. She is described by her co-workers as dedicated, thorough, kind and generous.
Mary Helen Yutzy, September 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Mary Helen Yutzy, a nurse in ICU, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of September.
An employee since 1989, Mary Helen is an excellent nurse and patient advocate with an outstanding work ethic. She is a team player who is described by her co-workers as dependable, positive, kind, thoughtful and compassionate. Mary Helen always has a smile on her face and arrives ready to do whatever is needed to provide top-notch care.
She shares her knowledge and clinical expertise with her co-workers and is more than willing to help newer nurses learn the ICU. Her colleagues say Mary Helen handles any situation with a calm, cool and collected manner that is reassuring to patients, families, and staff.
Asa Simmons, August 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Asa Simmons, Physician Support Analyst in the Information Technology Department, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of August.
A member of the IT staff since 2004, Asa is an excellent employee and a team player who is a great project leader and problem solver. He has been instrumental in working with Clinics and Physician practices, as well as numerous other departments at WMHS, on the implementation of a new software program.
Asa is well-liked by his customers and processes good critical thinking skills. Co-workers describe him as diligent, friendly, respectful, optimistic and conscientious. Asa has been the recipient of several Peak Performer nominations and multiple nominations for the Values in Action Award.
Debbie Greise, July 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Debbie Greise, nurse clinician in Same Day Surgery, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of July.
An employee since 1981, Debbie is an excellent nurse and a knowledgeable resource for the Same Day staff. She is the go-to person for her unit and is very technically advanced. Debbie has great critical thinking skills and always strives to improve processes. Co-workers say she is dedicated, kind, efficient, modest and conscientious. Debbie enjoys working with nursing students and generously shares her clinical expertise with students and staff alike.
She is a nursing role model and exemplifies our Core Values as well as our Service Excellence standards. In fact, Debbie has received many peak performer nominations and multiple nominations for the Values in Action Award.
Sharon Amick, June 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Sharon Amick, payroll specialist in the Finance Department, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of June.
An employee for 25 years, Sharon is an outstanding worker who is more than willing to help others by anticipating needs and follow through on the smallest details. She is a very good communicator and prides herself on being helpful, efficient, thorough and flexible.
Sharon is more than willing to learn new technology and take on more responsibility. She is always ready with a friendly smile and a thoughtful word of encouragement that brightens everyone’s day.
Co-workers describe Sharon as caring, dedicated, kind, honest and unselfish. She is a great ambassador for WMHS, a Service Excellence Champion, and she embodies the Core Values in every part of her life.
Wendy Sarver, May 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Wendy Sarver, a diagnostic tech in the Radiology Department, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of May.
An employee since 2004, Wendy is an excellent member of the Radiology staff who is hard-working, kind-hearted and never hesitates to take the initiative to get the job done. Her pleasant demeanor and respectful nature puts patients at ease and makes them feel secure during their appointment.
Wendy is a tireless advocate for radiation safety and leads by example. She serves as a mentor to students and holds everyone in her department accountable.
Co-workers say Wendy is caring, helpful, compassionate and supportive. She has a very positive attitude and exemplifies the WMHS Service Excellence standards in everything she does.
Glenda Billy, April 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Glenda Billy, a nurse on the 7 South Nursing unit, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of April.
An employee since 1992, Glenda is an outstanding nurse and a team player who shares her knowledge and experience with her co-workers. She has very good patient and staff education skills, often serving as a role model or mentor for newer employees.
Glenda is a compassionate caregiver with a gentle touch that creates a special bond with patients and their families. Co-workers describe her as dedicated, flexible, generous, proactive and very organized.
Chris Seibert, March 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Chris Seibert, a housekeeping aide in Environmental Services, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of March.
Chris is assigned to the ICU and CVU nursing units and has been working at WMHS since 2002. She is an excellent employee with a great attitude and a friendly, pleasant demeanor.
Chris is a very good communicator and a team player who looks out for our patients, visitors and fellow co-workers. She is described as dedicated, polite, flexible, respectful and extremely reliable. Chris is a very hard worker and an asset to the EVS staff and WMHS.
Alda Westfall, February 2012 Recipient
Congratulations to Alda Westfall, a nurse in Labor & Delivery, for being selected as the WMHS Values in Action Award winner for the month of February.
An employee for 31 years, Alda is an outstanding clinician and a very dedicated professional. She is a positive role model and team player who helps mentor new members of the staff. Alda gladly shares her expertise with others and often goes out of her way to advocate for her patients and their families.
Co-workers say Alda is a pleasure to work with and she is described as caring, friendly, reliable and exceptionally kind. She offers to work additional hours and never complains. Alda is a valuable asset to Labor & Delivery and WMHS.
Joshua Payne, January 2012 Recipient

An employee since 2008, Josh is an excellent, hard-working phlebotomist who is a team player with a positive attitude. He is a role model for others and gifted communicator. Josh is often called upon to do the challenging draws and he always has a smile on his face.
Co-workers describe Josh as dedicated, caring, respectful, polite, kind, diligent and compassionate. He often goes the extra mile to make patients comfortable or to help a co-worker. Josh has been nominated many times as a peak performer and received multiple nods for the Values in Action Award.
