Cardiology Services
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Our cardiac rehabilitation program can help you experience a complete recovery if you have undergone heart surgery or suffered a heart attack at any point in the last year.
Diagnostic Cardiology
Diagnostic cardiology tools used at UPMC Western Maryland include cardiac catheterization, echocardiogram, electrocardiogram, holter monitor, stress test, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
Electrophysiology
The term electrophysiology means study of the heart’s electrical activity. Conditions associated with a heart electrical problem include arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and heart block.
Heart Failure Clinic
If you have a known weak heart muscle or have received a diagnosis of heart failure, our heart failure clinic is for you. Our goal is to reduce ER visits by empowering you to take control of your own heart health.
Interventional Cardiology
The practice of interventional cardiology involves a cardiologist restoring the flow of blood to your heart through one of several procedures; however, angioplasty is the most common.
Open Heart Surgery
Our surgeons complete coronary artery bypass, heart valve and other cardiac surgeries on you if you require open heart surgery.
Recovery in the One-Stop Cardiovascular Unit
Our heart surgery patients stay in the one-stop cardiovascular unit (CVU) for the duration of recovery. You recover in a private room and the same care team attends until discharge.
Stroke Center
It’s important to know the warning signs of a stroke and to seek treatment immediately. At UPMC Western Maryland, we provide award-winning care to our stroke patients.
